What if I'm running late for my appointment?
What
do I wear for my spa experience?
Please dress comfortably and leave your jewelry
at home. We may be asking you to change into a
spa robe for some of your services. When having
a pedicure, wear pants that will roll up above
your knees. In a massage you will be asked to
undress to your comfort level. Usually this means
removing as much of your clothing as you are comfortable
with to allow the therapist freedom to work different
muscle groups. We practice privacy draping, and
any part of your body that is not being worked
on will be draped.

Do
you take walk-in clients for your salons?
Yes, we welcome walk-in's at Spa Japonika. However,
please bear in mind that we book most of our services
and it will depend upon the availability and book-rates
on the day you come in.

How
far in advance should I book my appointment?
Booking
your appointments as far in advance as possible
will allow maximum flexibility when choosing your
services and appointment times. Weekends are our
busiest times so allow 2-3 weeks when booking
single services and 3-4 weeks when booking packages
for the weekends.

Can
I purchase a Gift Certificate from Spa Japonika?
Yes.
Online gift certificates are available; or if
you chose you may purchase them via phone or while
at the Spa. For more information on online purchases
of certificates please visit our Gifts
section. We accept MC, VISA, AMEx, and Discover.

Can
I use my gift certificate for products?
All
gift certificates may be used as their dollar
amount for any products or services. If you have
a gift certificate for a package, you may split
up your services and receive services on different
days.

Are children allowed at the spa ?
Children are welcome in our spa if they have an appointment. They may not accompany you in your service and we cannot watch them while you receive services.

How
often should I receive spa services?
You
can receive most spa services as often as you
like. For maximum benefits, we recommend a treatment
once a month supported by a self care program
at home. We will help you reconnect at the spa,
but you will see long term benefits from what
you do to take care of yourself on a daily basis.
This might mean a skin care routine recommended
by our Estheticians, or breathing and relaxation
techniques that your Massage Therapist shares
with you.

Should
I tip?
Our
technicians accept gratuities. If you have received
great service, a 15-20% tip is a nice way to show
your appreciation.

What
is lash and brow tinting and how long does it
last?
We
use a vegetable based dye to darken the lashes/brows.
This process is not available to bleach or lighten
them. It is safe for the eye area and will not
harm the eyes. It lasts about 3-4 weeks.

How
often should I wax?
Hair
needs to be at least 1/4 inch long to be removed
by waxing. First time waxer's should allow 2 weeks
after any shaving in order to receive a good,
clean wax. After that, most all facial and body
waxing is done once a month. Please note that
if you are currently taking the prescription drug
Accutane, you cannot receive waxing services.
If you use a topical prescription such as Retin-A,
Renova or Differin, you should not apply it for
3 days prior to waxing.

How
will my skin look after Microdermabrasion?
Your
skin might look a little pink and be sensitive,
like a sunburn. Depending on your skin's sensitivity
level this could last anywhere from a few hours
to a few days. You can apply makeup immediately
after the treatment.

Where
is your store located?
Spa Japonika is located in the Riverchase Galleria,
in Hoover, Alabama. Hoover is in the Birmingham,
Alabama area - centrally located in the state.
The Galleria is one of the largest and finest
shopping complexes in central Alabama and prides
itself on offering a wide ranging assortment of
quality stores and shopping experiences.
Within
the Galleria itself, our Spa is located near both
the Wynfrey Hotel, and Parisian's Department store.

What if I'm running late for my appointment?
If you are late for an appointment, a modified service will be performed if time permits and will end at the scheduled time. However if time does not permit you will be charged 50% of the services selected.
